Allowed only with our written approval
Our payment partners do not support card payments for businesses in the categories below in Ghana, or support them only after extra checks. A shop may sell in these categories only with our written approval. Write to us at support@makola.io before you list anything. We may ask you for more information, our payment partners may ask us for documents, and we may say no. We may withdraw an approval at any time.
In the lists below, betting and wagering on games of skill fall under the gambling rule in the list of things that are never allowed. That rule wins: they are not allowed, even though they are listed here.

Rules of conduct
Whatever you sell, you must also follow these rules.
- Fraud. Do not take payment for goods you do not mean to deliver. Do not use someone else's identity or payment details. Do not place fake orders or take part in them.
- False listings. Describe what you sell honestly: what it is, what it costs, what condition it is in and when you can deliver it. Use photos and words you have the right to use. Do not list goods you do not have or cannot get.
- Fake reviews. Do not write, buy, sell or ask for false reviews, and do not review your own shop.
- Misuse of personal data. Use a customer's personal details only for their order and to look after them. Do not sell or share them, and do not collect details you do not need.
- Scraping and automated access. Do not scrape or collect data from Makola.io, or from other shops, by automated means, except through interfaces we publish for that purpose.
- Malware and interference. Do not send or upload malware, try to get into accounts or systems that are not yours, or interfere with how Makola.io or any shop works.
- Avoiding platform fees. Do not arrange for a sale that began on Makola.io to be paid for outside it so that you pay no platform fee.
- Harassment. Do not harass, threaten or abuse customers, merchants, suppliers, promoters or our team.
No escrow, lay-away or pooled savings
Makola.io is a place to sell goods. The sale is between the customer and the shop. You may not use Makola.io to run an escrow service, a lay-away scheme, a pooled-savings arrangement, or a way to send money from one person to another.
Reporting a problem
If you see something that breaks this policy, tell us:
- Email support@makola.io with the shop name or the product link, and what is wrong.
- Or use the WhatsApp number on our Contact page.
- In the Makola app, open the product and choose Report this listing.
A report of a listing goes to our team's review queue. It does not remove the listing by itself: our staff look at it and decide.
What we do about it
If something breaks this policy, we may do any of the following, depending on how serious it is:
- Take a product down. We record the reason and tell the merchant.
- Suspend or block a shop, so that customers can no longer reach it, or archive it, which takes it off the site and keeps its records.
- Hold back payouts where the law requires it, or where we suspect fraud or have a chargeback to review.
- Cooperate with law enforcement and with court orders.
If you think we got it wrong, write to support@makola.io with the shop name or product link and your reasons. Someone on our team will look at it again.
